uGroup are a parent company to uCheck, a leading pre-employment screening company, and uRoster, specialising in care management solutions. uGroup are a family-run business with an aim to provide rapid, innovative HR solutions for organisations, freeing time for them to focus on their people.

Starting with the introduction of the uCheck brand in 2013, uGroup companies are known for their fast, secure systems – as well as their outstanding customer service. From our humble beginnings to currently employing 30+ people and managing two standalone companies, it’s been quite a journey. Take a look at our timeline:
Moving Forward
George Griffiths announces the formation of uGroup to unite uCheck, uRoster and future projects. The uCheck foundation is formed with the aim of raising £500,000 for charity over a 10-year period. uCheck become the largest provider of DBS checks in the UK.

uCheck release a host of system tools to support the continued growth of the business. These include an automated countersigning tool, a wallet function allowing clients to add credit to their accounts and a dedicated client management system.
Finally, an app
George Griffiths is appointed Managing Director to continue driving the business forward whilst staying true to the mission and uCheck launch a mobile app which is used over 3,000 times in the first 6 months.

uCheck become the 2nd largest provider of DBS checks in the UK thanks to the implementation of a dedicated Business Development team.
HR Platform
The second iteration of the online tool, HR Platform launches and processes over 100,000 checks in its first year. uCheck launch API integrations, allowing clients to automate the transfer of data – the first of its kind in the UK. Head office moves from Christow to Marsh Barton Trading Estate, Exeter.

uCheck begin to offer Right to Work, Adverse Credit and Identity  checks to complement its DBS offering. uCheck starts developing a new tool inspired by client feedback. The first of its kind in the UK, this new tool saw applicant data only collected once and used to obtain a multitude of vetting and screening checks.

uCheck becomes the 4th largest provider of DBS checks in the UK, processing in excess of 200,000 checks per year.

M G Care Executive introduce the first iteration of its own bespoke system, DBS Assist. The business begins to trade as uCheck for the first time with the aim to continue offering outstanding services and systems.

At age 14, George Griffiths promotes the new online system to organisations, showing an entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic by supporting business development and other areas of the business.

M G Care Executive begin offering checks online using a system rented from Capita. This step reduces processing times, resulting in faster, more efficient employment decisions for clients.

Our first marketing website, mgcare.co.uk, is launched to attract a growing digitally-minded client base.

Home Office
Mike Griffiths begins to work closely with the Home Office, becoming a voice for care home owners. His work contributes to long-term changes in the way the criminal record screening process evolves.

To cope with the demand of a growing client base in the care industry, M G Care Executive move from a small cottage to a purpose-built office building in Christow, Devon.

Clients are coming

The Home Office launch The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). M G Care Executive become one of the first registered bodies to offer CRB checks. 10,000 leaflets are mailed out to care homes whilst operating as a family business with 2 team members in Christow, Devon. From this, 1,400 clients are obtained.
