UGROUP

Foundation

Formed in 2020, the uGroup Foundation was created to support those local and national causes that need it most. Our mission is ‘to always care about making a difference’ which is at the heart of everything we do. Every year we donate a percentage of profits to a major charity reflecting our national presence as a group. Locally we hold fundraising events and volunteer our time to help those in our local community. Our goal, by 2030, is to have raised over £500,000 and volunteered over 1,000 hours. Take a look at the visuals below to see how we are getting on:

Our Trustees

We are very active with charity work in our local community and further afield. The uGroup Foundation was set up in 2020 to raise money that will support many causes over the years. Local charities, children in need up and down the country, the homeless, mental health causes and many more.

We have completed numerous charity events over the years including obstacle course races, half marathons, bake sales and more. On top of our team efforts, the Board pledge to put a % of profits into the foundation so we can make a real difference together.
Jane Willis Foundation

Jane Willis

A key part of the uGroup Governance team, Jane’s hard work and keen eye for detail means she ensures uGroup work towards their trustee requirements. As Jane puts it, “Why wouldn’t you want to be part of a group that can put their efforts into helping other individuals or organisations to achieve their goals?”

Causes close to Jane’s heart: Jane currently supports several causes, including Kidney Research UK and Cancer Research UK – though would like to make a difference to smaller charities who may struggle getting their name out there to achieve their goals.

George Griffiths uGroup Foundation

George Griffiths

The managing director of uCheck and uRoster, George’s leadership experience will allow him to set and track objectives for uGroup over the coming years. With a stretching target to raise over £500,000 by 2030 for those who need it most, he’s counting on the passion, dedication and planning of his team to achieve (and hopefully exceed!) this target.

Causes close to George’s heart: Causes that support young people and children through illness are very close to George, who in 2015 raised over £3000 for Make a Wish UK by running the London Marathon.

Caroline Bailey uGroup Foundation

Caroline Bailey

With a love of organising charity events and raising money for great causes, Caroline seeks to bring the best part of 20 years of financial experience to good use within uGroup.

Causes close to Caroline’s heart: Mental health charities are very close to Caroline’s heart, as are animal charities as she is a dedicated pet owner. Caroline also tries to support local charities as they often need all the help they can get!

Julie Griffiths uGroup Foundation

Julie Griffiths

From donating to an animal charity and helping children with disabilities in her free time at school to her work in hospital as a registered nurse, it has always been important for Julie to do her bit. By becoming one of the trustees for uGroup, she hopes to continue her work towards her lifetime goal – helping others.

Causes close to Julie’s heart: Julie knows first hand how vital these charities are and has been incredibly grateful for the support of her local hospice, guide dogs for the blind and mental health advisory charities among others.

Current Charities

In 2021 uGroup supports one local and one national charity.
Our Vision: That bereaved children and young people have somewhere to turn when someone significant in their lives dies.

Our Mission: To support bereaved children and young people in our area when someone significant in their lives dies. To work alongside their families and the professionals who care for them to further enhance the support they receive.

Our incredible volunteers run our 201 branches throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. They offer their time to help to deliver our 24-hour emotional support service to callers in many ways, from answering telephones and emails, to fundraising, generating publicity, administration and finance.

You don’t need to have been through a particular life experience or be from a certain walk of life. Anyone who wants to help others, is tolerant and open-minded is welcome to apply.
